Giving it a go
How we build your site and what "hosting" means.
Giving it a go (Getting Started)
If you're reading this, you probably just bought a website package. Legend! Here's exactly what happens next.
The Process
We try to keep this as painless as possible.
- You send us your stuff: We need logos, photos, and a bit of text about your business. (See Getting your gear ready).
- We build a draft: We'll put together a working version of your site. It won't be public yet, just for you to see.
- You judge it: You tell us what you love and what you hate. We fix it.
- We go live: Once you're happy, we "turn it on" for the world to see.
What is "Hosting"?
You'll see us talk about Hosting and Maintenance. Think of a website like a house.
- The Code is the house itself. We build that for you.
- Hosting is the land the house sits on. You have to rent the land to keep the house there. That's what your monthly fee covers—space on our servers to keep your site online 24/7.
- Maintenance is like having a gardener. We make sure the software is up to date, secure, and doesn't get infested with bugs.
What is a "Domain"?
A Domain is just your address (like google.com or yourbusiness.com.au).
- You usually buy this yourself (from GoDaddy, CrazyDomains, etc.).
- You point it to our "land" (Hosting).
- If you don't have one, we can help you pick a good one.
