The Damage (Billing)
How payments, subscriptions, and late fees work.
The Damage (Billing)
Nobody likes paying bills, but they keep the lights on. Here is how it works at netbound.
Your Subscription
When you buy a website package, you typically get 1 month free hosting and maintenance. After that, a monthly subscription kicks in.
What does the money cover?
It's not just "profit". It pays for:
- Server costs: The electricity and hardware to keep your site online 24/7.
- Security updates: We patch your site so hackers generally can't get in.
- Small fixes: If a button stops working or a layout breaks, we fix it.
How to pay
We use Stripe for payments. It's the same system used by companies like Uber and Amazon. It's secure and we never see your credit card number. You can update your card details anytime in the Billing tab of this dashboard.
What happens if I don't pay?
If your card expires or a payment fails, don't panic.
- We'll try to charge it again a few times over the next few days.
- You'll get an email letting you know it failed.
The automated system
If the bill stays unpaid for too long, our system automatically turns off your website. It's nothing personal, it's just a computer script.
To turn it back on: Just pay the outstanding bill in the dashboard. The system will detect the payment and switch your site back on instantly (or within a few minutes). You don't need to call us.
Cancelling
If you want to leave us, just let us know. We can give you an export of your site's code for the same price that you initially paid, but you will need to find your own hosting and someone else to manage it for you.
